SMC Panels<\/span>\u00a0\u2013 1973-1982 Corvettes were assembled of panels made from a sheet molded composite (\u201cSMC\u201d). SMC panels are formed by a high-pressure mold compressing a mix of fiberglass, resin, catalyst and release agent. \n<\/strong>In my experience, no matter what year corvette you have, use a good Epoxy based resin with any standard matt. Epoxy resin works good with all types of fiberglass. If you try to use standard polyester based resins on SMC panels it will not stick, and will come off like a scab. Epoxy resins chemically bond to the panel and will not come off.
